Named after RUDDA’s late grandfather’s middle name, St John encapsulates melancholic hopefulness wrapped in club-ready energy. With his ode to the current UK Garage scene, the South-West London artist swerves effortlessly betweens elements of 2-step and Garage whilst sprinkling in dashes of Breaks and House. Garnished with soulful pitched vocals and floating soundscapes, St John serves what you can call: “getting lost in the dance”. Inspired by Calibre’s “Feeling Normal” album and work by Conducta and Sammy Virji, RUDDA, in turn, steps into the ring with punch and panache.

In his own words:

“I have an interest in the connections between the different dance genres, the similarities and differences in how they relate and rely on each other is something I aim to explore in my music. I love putting music out and seeing it be enjoyed in any capacity, whether in a rave, on a beach or in the Brixton WH Smith by the station. The current UK scene features such a wide range of sound and I hope to contribute to the culture in some way or another with my releases!”

The family run label is extremely excited to welcome RUDDA. Introduced by a mutual friend, Yohan and Tatiana quickly were drawn to his ability to mesh styles whilst keeping a positive and happy feel to his music - a Dancing Family essential. Their imprint has been carving a name for themselves with releases played on NTS, Rinse FM and BBC Introducing to name a few stations, as well as supported by the likes of Jyoty, Ahadadream, Daughters of Frank, Ciel and more. You can also catch them on their monthly Soho Radio show or putting on events at Corsica Studios and The Carpet Shop.
