Heavily influenced by L.A and London’s burgeoning neo-soul and alternative RnB scenes, Haroun has added a dash of the 80’s glitter and some funk from the 70’s in this forthcoming track. RIDE is the single that brings the party to your ears just before Haroun drops Sexcapades, their debut EP. The project focuses on the navigation of the dating world as a queer BIOPOC individual and the obstacles that Haroun has had to overcome whilst in this space.

RIDE blends funky basslines and disco-esque riffs meshed into playful lyrics depicting the importance of letting go through dance. With references to the Ballroom scene, the single plays an integral part in shaping further Haroun’s queer identity and their will to underline the vital role of queer black culture in shaping today’s pop music.

Written at the height of lockdown, Haroun's creation reflects the need for liberation and hints at one of the main topics of their EP: self-love whilst in partnership. With the dating world ever-so congested by apps they depict a moment of letting go in a world that can be tiresome and overwhelming. Bringing together an array of musical influences, the French-American-Morrocan artist, now based in South-East London, drives a reflection about self-care entangled in a joyous track that makes you want to get up, let your hair down and dance the night away.
